This project aims to respond to a situation of worsening social crises in Paraguay as a result of the COVID19 pandemic; however, it presents an opportunity for the rural sector in terms of the production of healthy, chemical-free food, a quality that takes on new relevance in the face of health uncertainty.
The project aims to create favourable conditions for the promotion of organic agriculture, contributing to the elaboration of a National Organic Programme – PNO, under the auspices of the CTPPO, which will allow the Ministry (a) to have a budget for its promotion, (b) to create a register of organic and agroecological production at national level, to be included in the Programme document and (c) to propose mechanisms for the certification of individual entrepreneurs and thus strengthen the development of the local market. At the community level, work will be carried out with 210 organised producers in two departments of the country: Cordillera and Guairá, who will receive technical support to improve their productive capacities, diversifying their farms, adding value to their fresh produce through small-scale industrialisation and following the process to access certification of their production.
