The Ambassador of Spain in Paraguay, Ms. Carmen Castiella Ruiz de Velasco, together with the team of the Technical Cooperation Office of the AECID, led by its Coordinator, Mr. Fernando Rey Yébenes, visited the technological innovation projects implemented by the Institute of Development-Foundation ETEA, ALTER VIDA and the Faculty of Engineering National University of Asuncion (FIUNA) with the participation of Loyola University, the University of Seville and the Ayesa Foundation.

During the visit, held on September 30, 2021, the representatives of the Spanish Cooperation had the opportunity to visit an experimental farm of the APRO Association where the smart irrigation system will be installed, developed through the project “Agriculture 4.0. Support for organic family production in Paraguay through a network of smart devices based on IoT“, which will allow the efficient use of water in the irrigation of organic crops.

On the other hand, the delegation moved to the municipal beach of San Bernardino, on the shores of Lake Ypacaraí, where FIUNA specialists showed the technology linked to the project “Monitoring system of pollutants in Lake Ypacaraí through the use of Unmanned Surface Aquatic Vehicles“, which allows monitoring water quality in real time through the deployment of a fleet of aquatic drones controlled by artificial intelligence.

Finally, the day ended at the EcoAgro store in San Lorenzo, where APRO’s organic products are marketed, within the framework of the project “Development of Organic Peasant Agriculture for economic recovery and productive reactivation in the Covid-19 context“, which involves producers of this association to provide them with technical assistance to improve production and organic certification as part of the added value of agricultural products.
