Abstract

The Revista Electrónica Interuniversitaria Interuniversitaria de Formación del Profesorado (REIFOP), in an issue dedicated to “Education for Development before the inequalities of the 21st century”, has published the article “Education for Development under the perspective of global citizenship in university teaching practice: experience in a technological campus”.

The paper identifies the University as a natural space to generate global citizenship attitudes in all its members. The traditional functions of the University fit perfectly with the dimensions of an emancipatory Development Education. The European Higher Education Area proposes a particularly favorable environment in this sense by establishing transversal ethical competencies. However, the differences in objectives and characteristics among the multiple actors involved give rise to practical difficulties. The experience in a technological campus that we show (university academic activities supported by a NGDO) highlights successes, problems and proposals for improvement.
