Abstract

The journal INETEMAS has published the article “The emergence of new actors in Latin America. The role of civil society”, a document developed by Mr. Francisco Santos Carrillo, researcher at the ETEA Foundation for Development and Cooperation.

Latin America has experienced an enormous growth of independent civil society organizations, especially relevant in the case of the so-called New Social Movements, whose collective action has been of great significance. But the fundamental premise when speaking of Latin American civil society has to start from the observation of its generalized weakness, as its most defining feature.
